The Church of Sweden has announced it will be referring to God using gender-neutral language. This is being done to more closely reflect and be more inclusive of current societal norms.
Ms Antje Jackelen, Primate of the Church, explained in a PBS interview how the church sees God’s androgynous persona throughout history. “Like Julian of Norwich in the 14th century said, as sure as God is our father, God is our mother,” she said
